The DEI and Anti-Racism Advisor will help CREA advance its commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist environment for all its employees, volunteers and members. The Advisor will focus on the intersection between DEI and governance; supporting efforts to embed DEI throughout the committee and board volunteer experience and CREA’s governance processes. The Advisor will also oversee the design, development and delivery of CREA’s annual DEI update and other materials as required. This is a one-year full-time contract position with the possibility of renewal
The DEI and Anti-Racism Advisor will help CREA advance its commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist environment for all its employees, volunteers and members.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to embed DEI and anti-racism throughout the committee and board volunteer experience, from onboarding through to the end of the governance year.
- Design, develop and deliver CREA’s annual DEI progress update, and new DEI resources, tools, presentations, reports, training, and events, as needed.
- Foster collaboration on DEI and anti-racism issues with the REALTOR® association community, by planning quarterly virtual roundtables and other engagement strategies.
- Support and collaborate with CREA’s Communications department on the development of DEI and anti-racism communications content for internal and external audiences, as needed.
- Oversee CREA’s employer partnership with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion.
- Provide support and expertise to CREA’s staff-led DEI Working Group, as needed.
- Attend internal and external meetings as required.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in combination with formal education and/or DEI-related training. The lived experience of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC), women, individuals who identify as LGBTQ2S+, and individuals with disabilities is regarded as directly relevant and highly valuable to this role.
- A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience applying DEI principles and best practices.
- Superior judgement, tact and diplomacy required to address sensitive topics and effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to influence change.
- Advanced public speaking and facilitation skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly assess situations, identify gaps and possible solutions.
- A self-starter with proven success working both independently and collaboratively and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
While our office is located in Ottawa, Ontario, we will consider candidates based in locations across Canada for this position.
