A Message from Valérie Paquin, 2025-26 CREA Chair
As 2025 draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the moments that defined the year. If 2024 was defined by the decision to transition REALTOR.ca into a separate, wholly owned taxable subsidiary of CREA, 2025 was going to be a year of action, change, and reflection.
Coming into my role as Chair in April, I knew that CREA was at a pivotal moment. In the proceeding months we took care and consideration in the development of our new strategic plan. Through extensive consultation with the REALTOR® community, our internal teams now have a clear path to guide your national association forward through to 2028 that REALTORS® can feel proud and excited about.
As exciting as it was to look forward, it was equally exciting to look backwards as we celebrated 40 years of REALTOR® advocacy at PAC Days 2025 in October. More than 400 Political Action Committee (PAC) representatives from across Canada gathered in Ottawa, Ontario, meeting with a record number of Members of Parliament. They shared our data-driven REALTOR® recommendations proudly on behalf of anyone in Canada looking to own a home one day, advocating to unlock housing supply and support market-based “missing middle” housing.
This year also reinforced the generosity and heart of our profession. Seeing REALTORS® across Canada give back through REALTORS Care® Days was inspiring, and a testament to the impact we make in our communities beyond real estate. It was an honour to be able to join CREA’s own REALTORS Care® Day in our nation’s capital, where colleagues from across the country came together in support of Ottawa Community Housing.
None of these initiatives would be possible without the connection and community. One of my proudest accomplishments this year has been working to strengthen communications with boards and associations across the country. Through regular updates and quarterly check-ins, we’ve become more aligned, more informed, more connected, and that closeness will only make us stronger.
There is still a lot of uncertainty in Canada, and for many REALTORS® too. Through it all, I remain optimistic as we look toward 2026. With a clear strategic plan and the dedication I see in this community every day, I’m confident that we will continue to make a meaningful difference for our profession and for the Canadians we serve.
Thank you for your commitment, your engagement, and your belief in the REALTOR® association community. I look forward to continuing this work together in the year ahead.
Wishing you and your communities a joyful holiday season and a New Year filled with promise and opportunity.
Valérie Paquin
