Looking for a way to stand out amongst the crowd? Earn your Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Designation in 2026.
The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) developed the CIPS designation to provide the education, resources and network to do just that, and the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) is proud to offer the designation courses here in Canada.
CIPS courses support all REALTORS®, new and experienced, who are interested in learning how real estate is transacted globally and gain insights on cultural differences that can impact a client’s real estate journey.
CIPS designation requirements
- Successful completion of two CIPS core courses.
- Completion of three regional elective courses.
- Upon completion of the courses, submit your CIPS application for Canada to cips@nar.realtor.
- Submit a one-time designation fee of $75 USD and pay annual dues.

Who you’ll be learning with
For these upcoming course offerings, you'll be learning alongside international professionals from Texas REALTORS® and Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios (AMPI), Mexico’s real estate association. All courses will be led by instructors based in Texas.
Here’s a list of courses being offered in early 2026, and how to sign up. Courses marked with an asterisk(*) are core courses required for the CIPS designation.

Jump Ahead
February 12: Global Real Estate: Local Markets*
This introductory course offers an overview of the international real estate business environment, including capital flow, currencies, government regulations and cultures.
February 19: Global Real Estate: Transaction Tools*
This course provides you with the tools needed to present investment information for the U.S. You'll learn how to measure investment performance, prepare financial projections, and understand the effects of taxes and exchange rates on investment.
February 26: Americas & International Real Estate
This course offers students practical information on working with regions of the Americas and provides insights into historical and cultural influences, regional relationships, and investment opportunities throughout the region.
March 5: Asia/Pacific & International Real Estate
This course addresses real estate practices in Asian and Pacific countries with emphasis on cultural influences, economic trends, and assessment of investment opportunities (including an extra chapter on working within the Japanese real estate market).
March 12: Europe & International Real Estate
This course introduces real estate professionals to the basic skills and knowledge necessary to facilitate international transactions with European clients.
All designations require that you attend the full course and have working video and audio to receive course credit towards the designation or certificate.
