REALTORS® Unite in Communities Across Canada to Advocate for Housing

A summary of PAC at Home 2026.

From March 30 to May 22, 2026, Political Action Committee (PAC) representatives from across Canada will be meeting with their local Members of Parliament at home in their constituencies as a part of the PAC at Home initiative.

PAC representatives will provide regional updates to their local representatives and their staff whilst discussing the current REALTOR® recommendation. They will champion practical, forward-thinking policy that ensures that the right type and mix of housing is built and made accessible across the housing continuum.

Jump Ahead

What REALTORS® are advocating for

Canada’s housing challenge isn’t just about how much we build—it’s about what we build.

For years, policy has focused on volume over the right mix, leaving critical gaps in family-sized and middle housing. As a result, young families, workers, and seniors are being squeezed out of suitable options in their own communities. This mismatch is driving broader market strain, limiting mobility and putting homeownership further out of reach for many Canadians.

Without a system that reflects real household needs, the path forward for many Canadians remains increasingly uncertain.

REALTOR® Recommendation

Partner with provinces and territories to launch a National Housing Strategy 2.0—one that prioritizes housing choice as a national outcome across the continuum, including a national goal of restoring attainable homeownership through middle housing, and addresses the full range of housing issues, from ending homelessness to rebuilding the pathway to homeownership for generations of Canadians. This must include clearly defined, outcome-driven mandates for both Build Canada Homes and Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation.

PAC representatives from across the country will be communicating our REALTOR® recommendation and the following key facts with their local MPs.

  • Homeownership is an enduring goal: Even in a difficult market, 86% of 18–29-year-old and 75% of 30–44-year-old non-homeowners would like to own one day.
  • More choice will build generational equity: Half of first-time buyers (49%) are prepared to purchase a smaller home to break into the ownership market.
  • A wider mix of housing is required: Seven in 10 Canadians (73%) say we must build a broader variety of homes to meet future needs.
  • Canada is missing the mark: Three in five Canadians agree there are not enough homes being built that meet size and layout needs (i.e. family-sized or multi-bedroom units).

PAC at Home is a part of a wider long-term advocacy strategy and initiative championed by REALTORS® to help ensure everyone in Canada has a place to call home.

Meeting Tips for PAC Representatives

  • Connect with your real estate board/association to coordinate organizing your MP meeting(s). If you have a personal relationship with your MP or their staff you’re welcome to reach out independently; but, make sure you keep your board/association in the loop. A template is available on the REALTOR® Action Network (RAN).
  • Arrive on time, or even a little bit early! Meeting times are subject to change and often do. Make sure you double check your phone and e-mail for any updates.
  • Be ready to advocate! Make sure you’re well-briefed before going into your MP meeting by having your materials reviewed and organized. Start by reading the PAC at Home talking points and discussing the information with your fellow PAC representatives.

A special PAC at Home training session will take place Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EDT. This one-hour seminar about high impact advocacy will be delivered by Tim Hudak, former Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), former Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, past CEO of the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA), and Partner at Counsel Public Affairs.

  • Thank you! MPs and their staff receive countless meeting requests, and it’s important to acknowledge the time that they spend with you.

This year, CREA has developed a PowerPoint deck the can be printed and left with your MP and/or their staff. The deck includes regional data and Abacus polling data broken down by province. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the information before attending your meeting.

For more detailed information to help you excel in your role as a PAC representative, please review all materials available on the REALTOR® Action Network (RAN).

How to share your experience, and amplify the message!

Most MPs will be happy to take a photo with you if you ask. Whether you have a photo or not, posting to social media about your meeting is a great way to continue sharing the REALTOR® recommendations you’re advocating for.

When you share about your meeting on social media, make sure to use the hashtag #PACatHome2026
