Five Ideas for REALTORS® to Stay Connected with Clients

Consider these if you’re out of ideas.

REALTORS® are all about connection. While many are natural relationship builders, exploring new ideas can help you find fresh ways to stay connected with your community and clients.

To help get the creative juices flowing, we’ve put together five ideas to take your name from outside the house to inside the home.

Jump Ahead

1. Pop into your clients’ inbox with a curated newsletter.

Feeling creative and love to write? A newsletter may be a great fit. Choose a cadence that makes sense for your message and your clients, and consider pulling together information like neighbourhood happenings, market data, fun facts, your favourite cookbook, recent client successes—or whatever else you think your clients would love! If you need ideas or content, REALTOR.ca’s Living Room blog is filled with content that your clients will love and find useful, no matter their homeownership status.

2. Remember and celebrate milestones.

Has it been five years since you helped your client find their dream home? Send a quick text to wish them a happy house-iversary.

Do you know the day they adopted their dog? Leave a new pet toy on their doorstep.

Is their child graduating high school? Consider mailing a congratulatory card.

Celebrating your clients when they’re least expecting it is a great way to show you care, and stay connected.

3. Design and give away custom greeting cards.

A gift that keeps giving—greeting cards! Consider designing something clever or specific to your area or clientele that people will want to use. You can accompany the gift with a custom card of your own.

If you want to take it a step further, consider exploring specialty options, like pop-up cards or wildflower seed paper.

4. Give the gift of flavour by sharing your favourite recipes.

If you consider yourself an excellent cook, this one might be for you. Consider making recipe cards of your tried and tested recommendations to mail or email to clients.

Want to go a step further? Think about hosting an event where everyone brings their own recipe, or perhaps a cooking class.

5. Put your propagation skills to the test, gift a houseplant!

If you’ve got a green thumb, use that skill to propagate some “plant babies” to share with clients. Many plants are fairly easy to make more of, and they make great gifts for any number of occasions.

Herbs are something easy to grow from seed in the warmer months, bringing a tasty layer to this idea.

You could even take it an extra step further by hosting a plant pot painting event where everyone gets to take one home (great for including kids!).

These five ideas are just a drop in the bucket of ways that REALTORS® can stay connected with their clients. Remember that choosing an idea that suits your personal brand and clientele is the most important step.
