As CREA Chair, what are your priorities?
We are guided by CREA’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, which focuses on advocacy and impact, member success and growth, REALTOR® value and professionalism, and strong organizational performance.
I believe in collaboration—longer tables, not higher walls. Alignment across local, provincial, and national levels will be key. We must also continue advocating for housing solutions so every Canadian has a place to call home.
My commitment is to lead with good governance—staying focused on strategy, respecting roles, and ensuring transparency and accountability in everything we do.
A Conversation with Garry Bhaura
How did you get started in real estate?
I come from an entrepreneurial family, so business was always part of my upbringing. But real estate was more than that for me, it was a passion. I was drawn to the impact we can have on people’s lives. Over time, that passion became my purpose, and it continues to guide me today.
If you could have any other job for a day, what would it be?
I would be a teacher. I truly enjoy sharing knowledge and helping others grow and just as importantly, I enjoy learning myself. That mindset has been a big part of my journey.
What trends in real estate are you paying attention to right now?
AI is transforming how we work with and serve our clients. At the same time, collaboration and mergers are reshaping the industry. I see these as opportunities for us to evolve, become more efficient, and deliver greater value.
What’s your favourite style of home?
For me, it’s simple, a home is where your loved ones are. That’s what truly defines it.
What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
Become the expert. Position yourself as the go-to professional. When you focus on mastery and service, success follows.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I enjoy writing poetry in my free time. It’s a way for me to reflect and express thoughts beyond business.
Where do you do your best thinking?
Morning or evening walks give me clarity, peace, and the space to think freely.
What’s your order at a coffee shop?
A café latte—no foam.
What’s your dream vacation destination?
A peaceful place surrounded by nature, where I can reflect, recharge, and spend time with family.
What’s your favourite way to give back to your community?
Helping those in need with food and clothing, and planting trees to support our environment. Giving back is a responsibility I take seriously.
What would you say to CREA’s newest members?
Be professional. Be ethical. Success will follow.
What’s your favourite season?
Fall. It represents transition, renewal, and preparation for what’s ahead. Just like in our profession, it’s a time to reflect on what we’ve built, let go of what no longer serves us, and reset with clarity and purpose. It’s a season that reminds us: growth often comes with change and that fresh opportunities are always around the corner.
What’s the most underrated home renovation?
Painting. A simple change that can completely transform a space.
How do you like to communicate with clients?
Clear, honest, and two-way communication. Listening is just as important as advising.
