Six Social Media Ideas for REALTORS® to Try This Summer
Use this list to get inspired.
Social media is a powerful marketing tool, but consistently coming up with new ideas for content can feel like a never-ending challenge.
One minute you're posting a new listing, the next you're staring at a blank content calendar wondering if a photo of your iced coffee counts as a marketing strategy (for the record, sometimes it does).
With summer being one of the busiest seasons for many REALTORS®, we’ve put together a list of six content ideas (with one bonus idea) to help spark inspiration, showcase your expertise, and keep your feeds active all summer long.
Jump Ahead
1. Content with a side of community (and maybe an ice cream!)
Many REALTORS® are active members of their communities—and that’s exactly what makes them such great community experts! Whether you’re attending a neighbourhood BBQ, volunteering at a local fundraiser, checking out the opening of a new splash pad, supporting a local sports tournament, or even a fashion show for cats (hey, we’ve all got our interests), it’s all content.
Take photos. Capture videos. Record a quick reaction. Share your favourite moment from the day.
Not only does this help keep your followers in the loop, but it also demonstrates that you're genuinely invested in the community you serve. If the event supports a cause that's meaningful to you, it's also a great opportunity to amplify the message and encourage others to get involved.
Bonus tip: Ask followers about their favourite local summer events and feature some of their recommendations in a follow-up post.
2. What do Love Island and FIFA World Cup have in common?
Answer: content opportunities!
Not just Love Island and FIFA World Cup, either. Any major cultural event that’s already generating conversation can provide inspiration when you’re feeling stuck.
Sometimes it’s a meme. Sometimes it’s a parody. Sometimes it’s a simple poll asking your followers to weigh in. The key is finding authentic ways to join conversations your audience is already having.
Think about cultural moments from years past: the Olympics, the “Barbenheimer” summer, the NHL or PWHL finals, or Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. These events create opportunities to show personality and engage with your followers in a casual, relatable way.
Bonus tip: Consider hosting a viewing party, community watch event, or themed gathering. It's a fun way to turn online engagement into real-world connections.
3. Share client stories (with permission)
People love to connect with people. That is, after all, the reason that social media was created in the first place!
If you have clients who you know would be open to it, and with their permission, consider sharing pieces of their journey or success story to inspire aspiring homeowners. It could be as simple as the traditional closing day photo, or as intricate as a short video interview.
Don’t be afraid to be creative and go beyond standard testimonials. Consider talking more about the process (the highs and the lows), or how they chose their neighbourhood, comparables. Anything that helps to tell a great story is also likely to showcase your expertise.
User-generated content can be especially effective because audiences often view it as more authentic than traditional advertising.
4. Statistics and data and charts, oh my!
Are statistics a big part of your online content? Well, we have a tip for you. CREA Stats releases a number of regular reports, including monthly housing data, that your followers may find interesting.
Consider looking at the highlights from the latest monthly housing stats for national data and trends, reading our quarterly forecast for CREA’s expert analysis on what’s coming in the Canadian housing market, or checking the national price map to see how your community compares.
A treasure trove of fun facts to help inform your own content, CREA Stats is a great place to beat writer’s block and find some great topics for social media.
5. Share the love (and the content)!
As a connected community expert such as yourself, chances are you know plenty of local businesses that could benefit from a shoutout. Summer is the perfect time to spotlight the restaurants, cafés, shops, and service providers that help make your community unique.
Ideas include:
- partnering with a local business for a giveaway;
- creating a reoccurring series where you share recommendations (i.e., every Friday);
- sharing photos from local businesses you visit; and/or
- collaborating with a local business on a joint video, reel, or other type of content.
Not only does this create fresh content, but it also helps strengthen relationships within your community. Plus, everybody loves discovering a new patio, bakery, or hidden gem in the community they live in.
6. Showcase your community expertise with neighbourhood tours
You know all the best spots, right?
Well, we’re sure you at least know a few. Consider putting that knowledge to work by creating neighbourhood-focused content to not only demonstrate your community knowledge but to help your audience experience the community through your eyes.
This could take the form of a walking tour, a neighbourhood map, a curated list on Google Maps, or a basic graphic with a list of tips and insights. These can be uber tailored, like all the places to get a matcha on Main Street, or more general, like things to do with kids on a hot summer day.
This is knowledge you likely already have that others want to know.
Bonus! Promote your value as a REALTOR®… with content ready-made for you!
The Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA) 2026 national ad campaign is underway! Running through until September 21, 2026, the campaign has been strategically developed to express the value working with a REALTOR® brings to any home buying process. To help REALTORS® share the value themselves, we’ve developed customizable Canva templates with strategic messaging that REALTORS® can modify and share to their social media. Not your speed? Consider sharing one of the main campaign videos on your social media channels to help amplify the message.
Those are our six ideas to help get the creative juices flowing and keep those content calendars full this summer.
When it comes to social media, focus on content that feels authentic to you, your brand, and your community. The most successful posts aren't always the most polished, they're often the ones that provide value, start conversations, or simply show a little personality.
When you're unsure what to post, ask yourself a simple question:
"Would I stop scrolling for this?"
If the answer is yes, your future clients just might too.
Happy creating!
